The Best Resources to Keep Your Kids Safe in the Pool This Summer
Swimming can be dangerous, but with proper training and education, swimming can be a life-saving skill and a great way to enjoy the hot summer months.
In our years developing WAVE, we have become quite familiar with the various swim safety resources out there. Here are our Top 4 picks:
1. National Drowning Prevention Alliance (NDPA): Your ultimate guide to everything that's going on around drowning prevention, including campaigns, research, and best practices. Want to get involved? Create a local task force in your town here.
2. Pool Safely. An arm of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Pool Safely Campaign is dedicated to ending drowning. With millions of dollars in federal funding, Pool Safely has tons of resources for your town to use. Best of all? Free swag! You can get beach balls, posters, stickers, etc for free here!
3. The Kels Group. Founded by Kelsey Kauffman's dad, Rick, the Kels Group was created in memory of Kelsey, who drowned at a supervised public pool when she was just 3 years old. The Kels Group offers an insider's guide to swim safety, including interviews with drowning prevention advocates, swim safety tips, and community for parents. Check it out here.
