World-Class Swimmers Take on WAVE

On the road again! WAVE goes to Atlanta, Georgia to participate in one of the biggest fundraisers in the nation: Swim Across America!

At 7am on a Saturday morning, over 600 swimmers 🏊 of all ages eagerly lined up to enjoy the unseasonably warm temperatures at Lake Lanier, Georgia for 0.5 mile, 1 mile, and 5k swims.

In Atlanta, the WAVE Team gave out 25 Trackers and Google Clips for swimmers to try on during their swim. We were testing out range, fit, and swimmer feedback.

Elena and Mark were on site to set up, answer questions, and soak in the positive energy. (Look how high the WAVE Tower can go!)

WAVE is thrilled to support an organization that has positively impacted the lives of so many people across the country. Since its inception in 1987 in Boston, Swim Across America has raised over $100 million for cancer research.

The 25 WAVE-enabled swimmers included former Olympians, World-Champions, NCAA-athletes, and swim enthusiasts. Special thanks to former Olympic Swimmers Steve Lundquist and Eric Wunderlich for swimming with WAVE. Eric, an Atlanta native who swam in the 1996 Olympics in his hometown, swam with the WAVE Goggle Clips (bottom right). Steve, also an Atlanta native and a 2-Time Olympic Gold Medalist, preferred the WAVE Tracker (top right). We loved visiting the pool in Atlanta, Georgia, named after Steve!

The results? WAVE is comfortable and the Trackers stay on (even with that Olympic stroke!) Most swimmers say "you forget you even have it on"!

The swim on Lake Lanier was a blast, and it will also have an impact on many people for years to come. This year, Swim Across America donated almost $600,000 to AFLAC Atlanta Children's Hospital, which is leading the fight against childhood cancers. Previous Swim Across America Atlanta donations resulted directly in the successful development of a new drug targeting leukemia.

Thank you to Swim Across America for allowing WAVE to participate in the amazing Atlanta Swim, especially the superstar volunteers that make it all happen: Nicole Schwartz & Alison Milsaps, and co-event Directors Nancy Overheim & Jess Cooper. Big thanks! 👏👏👏

And, hey! You should totally go out and swim in the next Swim Across America event in your area. You can check them all out here.
